As the specialist publishing arm of global change-making organisation Practical Action, we partner with the brightest minds to publish the latest development perspectives.
- Rooted in hands on community development experience, we innovate and respond to what change-makers need – from practical ‘how to’ manuals to academic texts and journals; online, in print and open access formats, all peer reviewed by experts in relevant field. Find out more about us here.
- We have recently published Open Access and standard books on rural water supply, urban community-led total sanitation, faecal sludge treatment, gender and WASH, and systems thinking among others – please do take a look at our WASH book collection.
- We are excited to announce the launch of a ground-breaking new report on solid waste management called ‘Managing our Waste 2021: view from the Global South’. The report analyses the waste situation in four contrasting towns and cities from Africa and South Asia, and shines a spotlight on huge inequalities at city level, and the negative consequences of approaches that focus on collection rather than recycling. Join Practical Action at the event launch to discuss how we urgently need to put people back at the centre of our narrative and actions!
- By January 2022, all our Waterlines journal content will freely accessible to readers through the Subscribe to Open model. By opening up our content, we hope that communities around the world will have access to more of the resources they need, and that without traditional Open Access fees, authors from the Global South will have more opportunity to publish their valuable work. Please get in touch to subscribe and support this initiative, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you’d like to talk about a book project, or article, whether a tentative idea or more fully developed, please get in touch with Jenny Peebles, Content Commissioning Coordinator, or call into our Exhibitor Presentation on Monday @ 15:45.
